Samuel Flagg Bemis

Samuel Flagg Bemis (1891–1971) was an American historian and professor of diplomatic history, educated at Harvard and long associated with Harvard University. He specialized in U.S. foreign relations and wrote authoritative scholarship on early American diplomacy, making him credible on John Quincy Adams and the foundations of U.S. foreign policy. His major works include John Quincy Adams and the Foundations of American Foreign Policy (1949) and The Latin American Policy of the United States (1943).
